Check-in and Check-Out
Check-in is anytime after 3:00. I like to greet our guests to explain the workings and features of the cabin. Self Check-in is necessary after 20:00.
Check-out 11:00. There are no elaborate check-out procedures. Towels that will need to be laundered should be placed in the bathtub. That’s it. Removing the trash and recycling is appreciated, but not required..

Many vacationing guests frequent the famous Dancing Goat Cafe for Breakfast, Lunch, pastries and take away. Closes at 4:00. Look for it on FaceBook.

Internet and TV
Wifi at the fastest speed available. Digital Nomads were pleased. The internet is shared with our household. There is no TV.

Temperature control
Each room has a built-in electric heater. Electric heat is expensive and I ask guests to heat the occupied rooms to whatever temperature they find comfortable. Sleeping or heading out for the day are good opportunities reduce the heating load. In the heat of our brief summer two fans are provided to provide a cooling breeze.

Do you provide Guide service?
I am not a registered fishing guide, but I’m happy to introduce guests to the salmon pools and even teach beginners how to cast a fly rod.

How's the weather?
We have a long winter and a brief Spring. We have beautiful DAYS (not weeks) in May, June, September and October, but our summer is the last two weeks of July and the first two weeks of August. Hurricanes occur nearly every year, typically in September. Power outages can occur. If you are booking flights pay for cancellation insurance.

Are the flies bad?
Everything has a season. The black flies can cause misery in the spring, although most locals don’t bother wearing repellant. We just put up with them. Windy days are a blessing. Mosquitoes are common near the wooded areas and streams throughout the season.

Length of stay
Local Nova Scotians can enjoy a two day break, but visitors will regret not staying at least three days during tourist season. Many visitors regret saving Cape Breton for the end of their trip and all agree three days is hardly enough to enjoy what the area offers. You probably also want time to relax, and this is the place to do that.

Pets
I respect guests who can’t leave their beloved pet at home. Cats are welcome. Small to Medium size dogs are welcome. There is no extra charge to bring your pet. Here are my concerns. Dogs should not be left alone if there is a risk they will become anxious and have an accident. If damage occurs I expect you to be honest and offer to pay for it. Owners MUST clean up after their pet.

Anything Else?
The happiest guests are those who have spent time camping and now want something with more comfort and amenities. The cabin is old and rustic. The floor does have a slant which becomes unnoticeable after a day. Two elderly guests objected to it, but no one else has.
Smoking outside please. No waders inside. Most Cape Bretoners remove their shoes when they enter a house, but it’s your choice.

Is there a Barbecue?
There is a propane BBQ available. For your first use I prefer to light for you.
